The exhibition showcases the development of the cultural, educational and civic relationship between Tbilisi and Bristol from the beginning to present day. The “historical” part of the exhibition will include photographs and prints from different Bristol-Tbilisi Twinning Association projects and Bristol and Tbilisi landscape images which will give viewers images of the beautiful places they live.  The idea behind this exhibition is to celebrate friendship, international connection, cultural diversity, self-expression, innovation and traditions by invoking the concept of “unity without uniformity and diversity without fragmentation”. The exhibition explores ways to unlock the potential in the combination of very heterogeneous artworks composed from different media and materials, including photographs, video installation, sculptures and painting, and aims to find new insights by bringing the diverse work of disparate artists together showing how we are similar rather than how we are different.

The exhibition was held in September at the same venue in Tbilisi (Tbilisi History Museum - Karvasla) where the first young Georgian and British artists’ group art exhibition “Silk Road”, curated by British artists Bruce Allan and Anthea Nicholson, was held in 1994. The exhibition has been moved to TBC bank Headoffice in Tbilisi on 5th of October. The Mayors of Bristol and Tbilisi - Marvin Rees and Kakha Kaladze, The Guild of Guardians Bristol, British Ambassador to Georgia Justin McKenzie Smith, British and Georgian businessmen attended the exhibition during  the Bristol Business Conference on 12th October at TBC bank. The exhibition closed on 29th of October. That allowed BTA members who were in Tbilisi on the Georgian Tour (28/10/18 - 04/11/18) also to attend the exhibition.

The exhibition in Bristol will be a perfect top-stone of events celebrating the 30th anniversary of the BTA and friendship between Bristol and Tbilisi.
